Tell it where you’re going, who’s travelling and for how long, and it works out what the trip is likely to cost at the destination: where you’ll stay, what you’ll eat, getting around and things to do, with a day-by-day plan. Or start from what you can spend and it shows the places that fit your budget.
Two ways to plan
- Trip calculator: for when you know where you’re going. Pick any city or country, your dates, travellers and travel style.
- Budget finder: for when you know what you can spend. Enter a budget per person and see which destinations fit, possibly fit, or go over it.
Where the numbers come from
- Our 11 featured destinations (such as Tokyo, Bangkok and Paris) use TravelWise’s own starter estimates for hotels, food, local transport and activities in three travel styles, adjusted for the season you travel in.
- Every other city and country gets a rough estimate based on how expensive the country is compared with the US (World Bank price levels), scaled from our featured destinations. These are labelled “Rough estimate”.
- Hotels, restaurants and things to do nearby come from OpenStreetMap via Geoapify. Exchange rates are updated daily.
- Getting there (flights, trains, driving) isn’t included. You can add it, or change any figure to your own.
